After 8 months of involvement as a participant in the 2011 Sea to Sky Leadership Cohort VII our final project and graduation took place this past weekend - Saturday June 18, 2011.

Our final project was a free car seat safety check for children’s car seats. Previous car seat inspections in the Sea to Sky Corridor have found a 92% failure rate. Canada wide the failure rate is approximately 75%. This includes expired seats, inappropriately sized seats, and seat that were not properly installed. The project participants, including myself, held 4 clinics - Mt. Currie, Pemberton, Whistler and Squamish. It was an overwhelming success. A big thank you goes out to Squamish Fire Rescue for giving tours of the fire truck to children throughout the day and to Trevor Linden (yes, that Trevor Linden) who not only was the guest speaker for our graduation ceremony but also came out to help promote the event.
