The Access Society was founded in 1995, and has nearly 400 members throughout B.C., including many climbing-related businesses and clubs. Our work includes: 1. Communication; 2. The Crisis Centre is a volunteer organization committed to helping people help themselves and others during a crisis. The Crisis Centre's mandate is to provide a 24-hour, free, non-judgemental, confidential distress line service for people in need of support. The distress line provides 24 hour telephone support by professionally trained volunteers for people experiencing emotional distress. Interpretation is available for non-english speakers in over 140 languages. A web based hotline is available for youth who prefer to access support through live chat on the www.youthinbc.com website. The Crisis Intervention & Suicide Prevention Centre of BC is dedicated to helping people help themselves and others deal with crisis. We're here to listen. Here to help. The Howe Sound Mens Center Society is growing quickly! It is a soon-to-be legal society. The purpose of the Society is to build a men's centre that will provide easy access to information about mens health issues and a resource base to utilize existing programs. The Howe Sound Mens Center Society will also encourage community involvement by promoting awareness about mens health issues in a safe and secure environment, and will educate members of the community about requirements for mens health care and the necessary building blocks to sustain a working model.

Softball and baseball for boys and girls, starting at the T-Ball level. Runs from April to June at the Centennial Fields with wrap-up tournament at the end of June. Also includes rep teams which play against North Shore teams in the summer.

Loans for any former student of the Howe Sound district that attended school up to 20 years ago. A charitable organization in operation for over 40 years. Annual membreship is $1 and life membership is $50.

The Howe Sound Teachers Association is the local affiliate of the British Columbia Teachers Federation. All public school teachers in School District No. 48 (Howe Sound) are members of the HSTA. The HSTA provides support and advice to its members, and plays a vital advocacy role in promoting a strong public education system for our District. We are also actively involved in the local labour community, with membership in the Squamish and District Labour Committee.

Drop-in, Support, Referral Service and Advocacy (Welfare, Human Rights etc.) is provided at the women's centre during office hours; 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m on Monday and Friday, 10:00 to 4:00 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. The Women's Centre operates programs like Pearl's Place Transition House (safe place for women and children who are experiencing violence and/or abuse in their intimate relationship), Children Who Witness Abuse Counselling program, Squamish Women's Legal Clinic, Multicultural Outreach Program, a social enterprise store Pearls 2nds and more. The Centre also operates a First Nations Outreach Project through the six bands of the Sea to Sky Corridor, Pearl's Safe Home Program in Whistler and Pemberton and Children Who Witness Abuse in Whistler, Pemberton and Mt Currie.

Operates a 40 unit subsidized family housing complex known as Castle Rock Housing. Castle Rock includes 2,3 and 4 bedroom standard 2 level units and 2 one level disability units.

Provides assessment, treatment, community support, outreach and crisis services for persons with mental illness or mental health problems. Psychological and psychiatric counseling is available. Service is provided to anyone 19 years or older living in the Sea to Sky Corridor.

The bear aware program promotes practices that improve public saftey and respect for wild bears. Emergency preparedness info at www.sarinfo.bc.ca The Squamish Emergency Program includes three groups: Search and Rescue, Emergency Social Services and Communication. The Squamish Emergency Program is responsible for the purchase of equipment, training and supplies. It also plans and coordinates the many community events involving program members. To join any of these groups, pick up an application form at the District of Squamish office. Search and Rescue members must be in good physical condition, enjoy the outdoors and be able to commit a certain amount of time towards training and tasks.

SECS (formerly the Squamish Estuary Conservation Society) was formed in 1982 as a result of a proposal by BC Rail to construct a port facility that would have reduced productive estuarine habitat to zero. SECS members have spend countless hour at meetings, written hundreds of letters, conducted tours for residents, visitors, and politicians advocating for the preservation of large areas of the estuary. This effort has resulted in improvements to the Squamish Estuary Management Plan and the soon to be announced Squamish Estuary Wildlife Management Area. Development pressures are relentless, so community vigilance is more important than ever.

Squamish Fire Rescue is comprised of 7 career and 50 volunteer firefighters which responds from two fire halls located at 40439 Tantalus Road - Garibaldi Estates and 37890 Clarke Drive - Valleycliffe. The career staff are tasked with the administration of the department along with maintaining the fleet of vehicles and ensuring public safety through its fire safety inspection and education programs.

The Squamish Flying Club is a registered society and is located at the Squamish airport. The annual general meeting is held in February.

Squamish General Hospital offers obstetrics, emergency care, surgery, chemotheraphy, diabetic and nutritional counselling plus orthopedic surgery.

To carry out fundraising and other activities, which will add to the comfort and welfare of residents/patients of Hilltop House and Squamish General Hospital through volunteer attendance and provision of equipment. We operate a gift shop in the Squamish General Hospital.

For girls from kindergarten age and up. Program includes crafts, games and camping. Girls learn life skills which are invaluable in the home and community.

We are a diverse group of families that have chosen to school our children at home. Each family unique in its approach, has much to bring to the group. We meet twice monthly for support group. This is an adult function, and then monthly for fieldtrips with the whole family.

Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 200 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. Known for working to end preventable blindness, Lions participate in a vast variety of projects important to their communities. These projects range from cleaning up local parks to providing supplies to victims of natural disasters.

Squamish Minor Hockey runs from September to March for boys and girls aged 5 to 20. Registration takes place in August for new players.

A partner in the annual Squamish Mountain Festival held in July. Presents workshops and events throughout the year.

The Squamish Nation is comprised of Salish peoples who are descendants of the aboriginal peoples who lived in the present day Greater Vancouver area; Gibson's landing and Squamish River watershed. The Squamish Nation have occupied and governed their territory since beyond recorded history. The parcels of land which make up the Band are scattered from North Vancouver, Gibson's Landing to the area north of Howe sound.

Open to all ages. The dancers, wearing traditional regalia, perform traditional songs and dances of the Squamish Nation that have been passed on from the elders.

The Squamish oceanfront is a vibrant, innovative, sustainable, world-class “work-live-recreate” community showcasing the spirit, cultural heritage and values of the people of Squamish while working in harmony with our unique natural Pacific West Coast environment. The Squamish Oceanfront Development Corporation will plan, administer, promote and develop the Squamish downtown oceanfront land and marine assets for the maximum benefit of the community and Sea to Sky visitors SOD Corp will champion the revitalization of the oceanfront by providing leadership and energy in fostering economic diversity, environmental stewardship, SmartGrowth principles and community involvement.

A group of volunteers working with the RCMP in: missing persons searches; steep embankment rescue; Ambulance and Firefighter assistance; river rescues; cliff work and mountain rescue.

Skate Canada learn to skate, canskate program, Junior figure skating, test and competitive skating, teen and adult skating and power skating programs offered. Level two and three processional coaching.

Squamish Station merchants have formed a committee to increase community awareness by creatively marketing their services as a team effort throughout the year.

It's a multi-sports club involved in swimming, road biking and running.

We organize the Squamish Triathlon a Memorial to Bob McIntosh held the 2nd Sunday each July.

Ultimate is a field sport played with a disc. It is fast-paced, incredibly fun and unlike any team sport you have ever played. We will teach everything you need to know for free.

Sponsoring horse shows and clinics all summer. Riding grounds located off Loggers Lane. Access restricted to club members.

Suports shooting, hunting, fishing, archery and wildlife conservation.

The windsurfing club meets every windy day (which in Squamish could be 365 days of the year) at the end of the spit at the Squamish estuary. Facilities include a launch site for windsurfers and a rescue boat plus the society is always working to make the area more user-friendly. A wind line gives a wind report four times a day.

Open to women 19 and older. Season runs from September until spring. The team plays weekly and enters tournaments. Registration is held in September.

The purposes of the Club are: a)The development and encouragement of yachting. b)The development of seamanship through yachting. c)The cultivation of an appreciation of the cruising advantages of the waters of British Columbia. d)To alleviate moorage shortages and improve boating facilities in Squamish.e)To enter into any arrangements with any authorities, public or academic or otherwise, that may seem conducive to the Club’s purpose. g)To apply for all lawful and necessary grants in aid. h)To apply for and obtain all such licenses and permits from municipal, provincial or other proper authority as may be requisite for the purpose of the Club.

We perform short plays in March at the Eagle Eye Theatre known as YOUTHfest. Auditions take place early January. We work with youth and adults to promote theatre arts on stage and production. We also co-produce musical theatre such as The Sound of Music, The Rocky Horror Show, A Chorus Line.
